The Cyprus Institute (CyI), founded in January 2005, is a non-profit science and technology research institution, pursuing issues of regional importance and of global significance in the Eastern Mediterranean,  the Middle East and North Africa. The development of CyI involves the progressive launching of several cross-disciplinary research centers. CyI’s research centers address challenging problems that are important at a regional and international level. Its research centers are developed in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.

The Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) is one of the world’s leading accelerator centers and a member of the Helmholtz Association.  DESY develops, builds and operates large particle accelerators used to  investigate the structure and function of matter. DESY offers a broad research spectrum of international standing focusing on three main areas: accelerator development, construction and operation; photon science; particle and astroparticle physics. –
